Alien Breed Evolution demos “a bit like shop windows”

The trial versions of each of the Alien Breed Evolution will be specially created as pilot episodes, Team 17 studio director John Dennis revealed today.

Speaking at Liverpool’s Develop Conference, he spoke of the ways in which the company will encourage players to purchase all three Alien Breed Evolution installments, instead of opting for just one.

“The biggest differentiating factor in sales on digital platforms is quality,” said Dennis, pointing out that this quality needs to be reflected in the demo versions of the games.

The team wanted to compress all the themes of each game down into the trial versions, said Dennis.  “It’s a bit like a shop window… you can see features from the game but you can’t get at them.”

Other techniques Team 17 will use to entice players across the series include a range of new enemies for each title, unique environments, unique gameplay tasks and a cliffhanger ending to conclude each release.

Alien Breed Evolution revitalises Team 17’s classic Alien Breed Franchise, which has lain dormant for the best part of 15 years, despite a string of “Almost Breeds” which entered development but never saw release.  Alien Breed Conflict, Alien Breed Arcade and Alien Breed PSP never saw release, despite the team’s work.
