Announcement | Technical Hitches

Thanks for your patience over these last couple of days.  The below is genuinely what happened.

Yesterday evening, Resolution’s server buildings at One.com were caught in a storm.  The servers were, of course, tucked away safe and sound inside.  Or so you’d think.

Inside, certainly.  Safe and sound, not so much, as it would turn out.  The storm interfered with One.com’s fire safety equipment, which released a large amount of argon gas into the room.  Argon doesn’t do any damage.  But the amount to which the server building is sealed meant the air pressure rapidly rose.  And, as a result, all the servers conked out.

This meant that every site hosted from that room immediately went down.  Fortunately, those lovely folk at One.com back everything up on a daily basis, and spent all of today racing over to their backup building 10k away and replacing all our data.  Ours, alas, was among the last 1% to be completed, which is why you’ve had to wait so long for us to pop back into existence.

That’s about as videogame as it gets, right?

We’d like to publically apologise to the One.com tech support team, who’ve had us on the phone and instant messaging all day nagging them about when it’d be fixed.  And we’d like to apologise to you, dear readers, for our unfortunate absence.

    Bravo One.com!

What a cool way for our server to go down though, that’s ace.
