Aussie 48h Borderlands marathon for Child’s Play

THE AUSSIES are fond of mad post-apocalyptic shooty things. This much we know. So to hear that a team of 15 Australian games journos from various websites are having a 48-hour marathon playthrough of Borderlands shouldn’t come as much of a surprise. Right?

People from GameArena, AustralianGamer, OXCGN, dlc Live and others will be broadcasting the event live and encouraging donations for Child’s Play charity. Viewers can support and/or berate the participants through their forums and via Facebook or Twitter.

Australia’s premier video game pub The Mana Bar, established by Yahtzee Croshaw, is also getting in on the deal by broadcasting the event.

“We want the audience to suggest discussion topics, and even make challenges,” said event organiser Luke Lawrie. “2K Games is supporting the event, so we’ve got some cool stuff to give away and a few more surprises in store. This is for a really great cause, and we’re hoping the audience gets into it and gives where they can.”

The event begins at 6:00 PM (AEST) Friday 16 July. Interested folk can watch the event live and donate at www.gamearena.com.au/marathon.
