Breach delayed after military interest

BREACH, THE destructive shooter from Atomic Games, has been delayed because of interest from “some organisations” who wanted to use a modified version of the game as a training sim for their operatives.

Not as dodgy as it sounds. Atomic Games already has experience making military and intelligence training simulations, so it is their area of expertise. Still, this will come as a disappointment to anyone looking forward to the Xbox Live release. They’ll now have to wait until January 2011.

The upside is that Atomic will use the modifications and time to include a realistic Hardcore mode in the finished game.

“I’ve always said, we don’t make simulations for the public and we don’t make games for the government,” said Peter Tamte, President of Atomic Games. “However, we have come to realize there is a growing segment of the gaming population that wants to test these simulation systems out for themselves, which is why we’re adding features, like a Hardcore mode, to Breach.”

It will also allow those interested PC gamers enjoy the product on the same day as Xbox owners, they say.
