Defence secretary calls for MOH ban

THE UK Defence Secretary Liam Fox called on retailers to enforce a blanket ban on the upcoming first-person shooter Medal of Honor, Yahoo report.

“I am disgusted and angry,” he said. “It’s hard to believe any citizen of our country would wish to buy such a thoroughly un-British game. I would urge retailers to show their support for our armed forces and ban this tasteless product.”

EA responded to criticism by simply stating that in an authentic depiction of war there is usually more than one side.

“We give gamers the opportunity to play both sides,” a spokesperson told the Sunday Times. “Most of us have been doing this since we were seven: someone plays the cop, someone must be robber.

“In Medal of Honor multiplayer, someone’s got to be the Taliban.”

Meanwhile, the Department of Culture, Media and Sport have distanced themselves from the minister’s comments and has backed the ratings system.

And a former soldier and military advisor on EA’s payroll has come out and defended the game against Fox’s attack, report Eurogamer.

All in all, a lot of people just seem to be rolling their eyes and thinking “Oh Liam, you silly, silly MP.”
