January – catch snowflakes, generate pleasant music
LOOK HERE. January is one of ‘em arty type of games we all love so much. Except you, Reginald. You’re a philistine.
The game, created by Rich Vreeland, sees players catching snowflakes on their tongues during a walk in the snow. With each snowflake caught a musical note is played. And while the snow shower gets heavier, the music always stays light and relaxing.
Rich describes it thusly: “January uses a set of predefined musical rules to make choices about what the next note (or notes) will be, while also giving the player the freedom to choose when notes will be played, and the ability to make distinctions between different types.”
It’s short. It’s light. It’s relaxing. Get it down you. Also, snow. Everyone likes the snow.
