Silent Hill 8 will appeal to old-school fans

KONAMI’S NEW Silent Hill game was revealed at their E3 press conference earlier tonight and it looks like it will appeal to fans of the early games.

The game begins with a prison transport crashing and our hero the escaped convict Murphy Pendleton dandering into Silent Hill where he will encounter the bewildering puzzles and terrifying enemies the series is known for.

It looks like as far as combat goes the emphasis is on fighting with everyday objects like glass bottles and wooden chairs.

As well as the main story the game will feature sidequests that will change depending on the style of the player. Does this mean some kind of morality mechanic? Or a diverse plot based on the choices made as the game progresses? The series has been known for multiple endings based on player choice, so it isn’t far fetched to consider Konami might be building on this.

The game has also nabbed Daniel Licht for its music, the composer on TV show Dexter. It is scheduled for release in 2011 for PS3 and Xbox 360.
