Site Updates
Over the past few weeks, we’ve been browsing Resolution on a multitude of monitors, a bunch of browsers and a stack of screen resolutions. We’ve also been wearing our thinking caps daily, conjuring up a variety of new features we could add to the site, as well as methods for optimising your – ahem – user experience.
So, sub-headed for your convenience, here are the things that have changed.
//The logo says ‘beta’
Because, well, we are still in beta, really.
You’ll notice we like changing the site quite a lot. We’re perfectionists like that. But we’re also aware we won’t hit that mark of perfection without some tweaking and testing. There are, you’ll be glad to hear, no plans for any full redesign work at present, but we’re certainly open to suggestions of new bits to add, old bits to take away, and the odd nip and tuck along the way.
So we thought it sensible to be transparent about that. What you’re reading probably won’t be the finished article. It’s a journey of discovery for all of us, and we’re glad to have you along for the ride!
//The background’s grey
Why yes, it is. When browsing the site on enormous screens that none of us are rich enough to own, we noticed everything looked a little bit lost due to the cavernous gaps of white space surrounding everything. On smaller monitors, everything looked a bit clumsy, as a result of the lack of a border.
So that’s why we changed that bit. We liked the simplicity of the design, but it needed a little something to hold it all together. The result, we think, is quite effective – a plain grey background with our trademark hatching bordering the body of the site.
//There’s loads of advertising space, you sell-outs!
Yeah. But be reasonable. Running a website isn’t free. We’re already taking a hit by not taking a wage for any of this. We’d at least like to be able to cover the cost of keeping the website online and operational, without having to dip too deep into our own meagre pockets.
Besides, how much do you think these adverts actually pay us? Last month it was between five and ten pounds. Adding a few extra ad slots should help us up this a bit, and make a move into this being something that’s actually feasibly sustainable. You wouldn’t like us to just shut down tomorrow, would you? Er, better not answer that one.
//You can subscribe
What a surprise, another fundraising scheme. But we think you’ll be okay with this one, because it means extra-special exclusive content for you. For just two pounds a month! That’s dead cheap. We bet you wouldn’t even notice it come out of your account. Click on this big red button for more details.
