Slim Xbox 360 revealed today, hits UK July 16

What’s up, Slim?

Slim Xbox 360 revealed today, hits UK July 16

A “SLIM” model of the Xbox 360 has been announced at Microsoft’s E3 keynote conference. The launch date: today.

Xbox’s Don Mattrick dropped a shocker by announcing that the console would be shipping to stores in the US as soon as next week but won’t be launching in Europe until July 16th. Mattrick dropped a further shocker by throwing one at every journalist in the audience.

Okay, he didn’t throw anything. But every journo has been offered one of the sleek new consoles, sporting a 250 GB hard drive, has built in Wi-Fi and is “Kinect-ready.”

Mattrick lifted up an Xbox 360 casing to reveal the new version of the console underneath, which he boasted as “sleeker, smaller and whisper quiet.”

It will launch in Europe at £199.99.

It has also been announced that there will be a price cut of the Arcade version of the 360. Phil Spencer of Microsoft told GameTrailers that the Arcade would be reduced from $199 to $149. If they followed this up in the UK it would come out close to £100. Not a shabby offer at all.
