Ghost of Tsushima: After the anniversary comes the Director’s Cut

For a year now Sucker Punch Production has been inspiring us with “Ghost of Tsushima”. The traditional Japanese samurai experience will be supplemented with a director’s cut on August 20th. What can you expect

WHAT IS GHOST OF TSUSHIMA ABOUT?

The open-world game “Ghost of Tsushima” shows you a unique historical world of feudal Japan on PS4 and PS5. The focus is on the struggle of a young samurai, Jin Sakai, with his own identification and honor as a samurai. Both are in doubt when Jin is forced to take an atypical samurai path in an attempt to protect those for whom he was supposed to fight.

The island of Tsushima on the Korea Strait experienced the Mongol invasion of Japan firsthand from 1274. Jin has waited all his life to defend his country from the enemy as a samurai. However, he quickly realizes that he cannot stop the invasion with his teachings on combat and the spirit. Against his traditions and convictions, he decides to gain new skills and alliances in order to save his home island of Tsushima.

As a master of martial arts, Jin can defeat his opponent in close combat with the katana. In long-range combat, even on horseback, he aims with a bow and arrow at the weak points of his cunning and strong Mongolian opponents. But even from ambush, Jin can overcome careless warriors. It is important to use your skills together in such a way that a tactically safe fighting style develops. In the authentically animated landscapes of the Kamakura period in Japan, the fight on the battlefield appears to be witnessed first hand, which is not least due to the collaboration with Japanese historians.

WHAT DOES THE DIRECTOR’S CUT ADD TO THE GAME?

The Director’s Cut contains the story extension “The Island of Iki”, in which Jin not only confronts the Mongols, but also his past on the neighboring island of Tsushimas. You will also become part of the free co-op multiplayer game “Ghost of Tsushima: Legends”. As a samurai, hunter, ronin or assasin, two or four people can play missions and survival missions together with friends or via the online player search.

In addition to the large additional content, other gadgets include a digital mini-artbook, a technique point, a talisman in favor of Hachiman and the “Hero of Tsushima” skin set consisting of the golden mask, the sword kit, as well as horse and saddle. These will all be unlocked as the game progresses.

WHAT PLAYERS LOVED TO DO ON TSUSHIMA IN ONE YEAR:

Overall, players on Tsushima have:

679.2 million challenges mastered

333.1 million duels fought

68.5 million haikus written

61 million photos taken

55.63 million foxes petted

60.1 million ghost dogs summoned

Played 40.76 million Legends missions
